MINIATURE GOLF
There's plenty of room to join the boom in one of America's favorite pastimes.
The Opportunity: The business of golf continues to be strong despite other dips in the economy. Approximately $62 billion worth of goods were sold in the U.S., and 56 million people around the globe play golf. Wouldn't you like to have a piece of that profit pie? During the past two decades, the golf industry has outpaced inflation and does much better than other industries including gambling and amusements (about $55 billion) and even the movie industry ($58 billion).
Experience Needed: One doesn't need much experience to start a miniature golf course. You can build your own course or tie in with a recognized leader in the field, Lomma Golf,... |

Wedges are most commonly used when playing short shots, or attempting to get out of the rough.
The two most common forms of wedge are the pitching and sand wedge, which are commonly used by most golfers. The pitching wedge is included in a standard set of golf clubs, and most golfers add to this with a sand wedge. This is used to help players to escape from a bunker.
As golfers become more advanced, they may consider adding more wedges to their bag to allow for a greater variety of shots whilst around, or approaching the green.
The natural progression in a golfers game leads to the addition of either a gap or lob wedge. This will be determined by the golfer’s style and the conditions of the course... |

Fairway woods were designed to bridge a gap in the market between irons and drivers. The average golfer hits a shot 180-190 yards with a 3 iron and 230-250 yards with a driver. This shortfall, of around 60 yards, can be covered by using fairway woods.
Often recommended for new golfers as a safer, easier alternative to drivers when teeing off, fairway woods enable shorter distance and increased levels of control, allowing golfers to hit the fairway more frequently.
Types of Fairway Woods
There are many different types of fairway woods available. These include:

Driving distance is one of the key factors, which determines success on the golf course. It is important, therefore that you choose a driver which helps to achieve as great a distance on your shots as possible. This guide has been designed to help you do just that.
Drivers are usually made out of steel, titanium or a composite of titanium and other materials. Steel is generally the least expensive of the metals, and steel drivers usually mean restrictions on the size of the club head, due to the increased weight of the steel and relative weakness of the material. Steel drivers should not be dismissed, however, as they are very durable and solid and offer consistent shots.

Irons are one of the most essential bits of kit for any golfer. Used mainly for approaches to the green, they can also be used for shots off the tee and on the fairway. This guide has been designed to help you to choose the clubs which best suit your game.
Most sets of irons comprise 8 clubs, namely a 3 iron, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and a pitching wedge. These are each designed to hit the ball by a different distance, with exactly the same length of swing. The difference in distance between clubs is usually around 10-15 yards. The 3 iron, which has the least amount of loft will achieve the furthest distance. At the other end of the scale, the pitching wedge will result in the shortest shots.
