Archer leads Abu Dhabi by three strokes |
Phillip Archer shot a 9-under 63 Thursday to take a three-stroke lead on the opening day of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.
The Englishman, who had 10 birdies and a bogey, was one shot off the course record at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club. He had two birdie putts from 30 feet.
"When I was on the greens yesterday, I just knew that I was going to putt decent," Archer said. "And then I made a 15-footer for birdie on the opening hole today, and I just had the confidence that I could hole everything.
