Verplank and Rose tied for Hope lead |
Scott Verplank came close to winning last year's Bob Hope Desert Classic, finishing tied for second. On Thursday, Verplank served notice that he would again be in the hunt, shooting a 6-under 66 to grab a share of the lead with Justin Rose, who shot 65. A bogey on 18 cost Verplank the outright lead.
